| What
elements must a free skater incorporate if a program is to be
considered well-balanced? |
A well balanced program must combine jumps, spins, and required step and/or spiral sequences with a variety of connecting turns and moves such as spread eagles, bauers, pivots, and jumps with no assigned values for example - walley, split, falling leaf, half-loop, etc. The placement of the featured elements needs to be arranged to utilize all areas of the ice surface without clustering jumps and spins together. The directionality of the skater’s movement should be interesting and unexpected without telegraphing an element 1/2 to 3/4 the length of the rink.
