There are official rules that require judges to take a specified
deduction when the skater exceeds the allowed program length. There are
three types of events:
- An event with a “Maximum” time length that can
not be exceeded without a deduction of 0.1 in both the technical and
presentation marks for every 10 second increment in 6.0 events, the
referee notes the deduction and informs
the panel of judges.
- An event with an established ”time length” that
allows the skater a ten second margin on either side of the established
time. Any program that exceeds the 10 second margin receives a
deduction of 0.1 in both the technical and presentation marks for every
10 second increment in 6.0 events, the referee notes the deduction
and informs the panel of judges.
- If an event states a “Minimum” and “Maximum”
time length for the event. A violation can occur if the minimum is not
meet or the maximum is exceeded. A deduction of 0.1 is taken in both
the technical and presentation marks for every 10 second increment in
6.0 events, the referee notes the deduction and informs the panel of
judges.
